Cannot transfer binary files via modem in...due to transfer protocol.
Cause:
The protocol settings of the sending and receiving computers are not compatible.
Solution:
Select 'Programs' in the 'Start' menu, select 'Accessories', and select 'HyperTerminal'. Double-click the 'Hypertrm' icon. Type the connection and the phone number. Click 'Dial'. Select 'Transfer' and select 'Send file...'. Specify the file and select the protocol. Click 'Send'.
NOTE: The following procedure assumes that a HyperTerminal connection has already been set up.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs'.
3) Select 'Accessories' and select 'HyperTerminal'. (The 'HyperTerminal' window appears.)

4) Double-click the 'Hypertrm' icon.
NOTE: Depending on the Windows 95 setup, the 'Hypertrm' icon may be renamed 'Hypertrm.exe'.
5) In the 'Connection Description' dialog box, type the name of the desired connection and click 'OK'. (The 'Phone Number' dialog box appears.)
6) In the 'Phone Number' dialog box, do one or more of the following:
a) Select the country which you are calling from in the 'Country code' drop-down list.
b) Type the area code of the phone number you are dialing in the 'Area Code' box.
c) Type the appropriate phone number in the 'Phone Number' box.
d) If necessary, select the appropriate modem in the 'Connect using' drop-down list box.
7) Click 'OK'.
8) Click 'Dial' to dial the number.
9) Select the 'Transfer' menu and select 'Send file...' to send a file.
10) Do one of the following:
a) Type the filename to be sent in the 'Filename' box.
b) Click 'Browse...' and locate the file. (The 'Select File to Send' dialog box appears.)
1] In the 'Look in' drop-down list, select the drive where the file is saved.
2] Select the appropriate folder and click 'Open'.
3] Select the desired folder and click 'Open'.
11) In the 'Protocol' drop-down list, select the correct protocol.

NOTE 1: The protocols for both the sending and receiving modems must be the same. The available protocols include: '1KXmodem', 'Xmodem', 'Ymodem', 'Ymodem-G', 'Zmodem', and 'Kermit'.
NOTE 2: Contact the administrator of the computer you are trying to connect to for the proper protocol setting.
12) Click 'Send' to send the file.
